"Sometimes God calms the storm...sometimes He lets the storm rage and calms His child." Have you ever wondered why we face so many trials in this life, especially as Christians? Why do we still fall, when we see exactly where we're going? Why do we many times fail at resisting temptation even though we strongly want to resist it? Why do we complain or get so easily upset over the tiniest situations even though we know all of our troubles will vanish one day? The answer is short but true: sanctification. The bible definition for the word sanctify is, "to make holy or complete". Notice the word "make" was not replaced with already "made". In other words, those day by day trials in our lives are not because God takes pleasure in torturing us (because He obviously does not). It is, in fact, the very opposite. Because He loves us more than we can ever fathom, He has specifically given each one of us a different cross to carry in order that we may become more like Him! Romans 8: 29-30 says, "For those whom He foreknew [knew from before], He also predestined [to decide upon ahead of time] to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justfied [to make right with God], He also glorified." (Romans 8:29-30 NASB) Basically, this verse shows us that when God called us to Himself, He made us right with Him, and when we were right with Him, He glorified us. But did you notice that no where in this verse does it say that He sanctified us? That is because we are experiencing the sanctification process right now! For example, did you know that when someone breaks a bone and it heals, it rarely ever breaks in the same place? If you broke every bone in your body (and survived lol), it would be very hard to break a bone again. This is sanctification in it's visual form. God continuously breaks us in every possible place, until we can no longer be broken. That is when we will become complete! Of course, our time of completion will only come when we finally meet our BEAUUUUUTIFUL Savior face to face. So whenever the next trial comes, remember that when that bone breaks, God will always be there, ready to heal it once and for all.
